Dean of the School of Medicine Dr. Victoria P. Guillano and Curriculum and Instruction Head Dr. Franklin Guillano represented the University of Southeastern Philippines in the Universal Health Care (UHC) Summit for Medical Colleges on May 22, 2024, at the UNILAB Bayanihan Center in Mandaluyong City.

Hosted by the Association of Philippine Medical Colleges, Inc. (APMC) and the Philippine Medical Association (PMA), the event highlighted the integration of primary care into medical education. Key presentations included discussions on population-based health services, the Konsultasyong Sulit at Tama (Konsulta) package, and alternative approaches to primary care curriculum.

Teodoro J. Herbosa, Secretary of the Department of Health (DOH), emphasized the significance of integrating primary care in the basic medical education and training to support the advancement of Universal Health Care (UHC) in the country. The event provided an opportunity for medical educators and healthcare professionals to exchange ideas and methods for enhancing medical education and training.

USeP’s participation in this summit demonstrated its commitment to advancing healthcare education in the Philippines.
