The College of Arts and Sciences Graduate School (CAS-GS) successfully held its first Public Research Forum for 2025 on March 29 at the CIC AVR. The event carried the theme, โ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ฃ๐ค๐ฃ๐ ๐๐๐ฃ๐ช๐ ๐๐๐ช๐ ๐ ๐จ๐ ๐ฉ๐๐๐-๐พ๐ผ๐: ๐๐๐ฌ๐๐๐ซ๐๐ก๐๐ฌ ๐ญ๐ก๐๐ญ ๐๐ซ๐๐ง๐ฌ๐๐จ๐ซ๐ฆ ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐๐ฌ ๐ข๐ง ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐๐ฒ๐จ๐ง๐.โ*ย
The forum served as a platform for student researchers to present their theses to the public prior to their final defense. It showcased diverse research presentations from various graduate programs, including:
- Four (4) from the Master of Arts in Literature,
- Two (2) from the Master of Science in Biology, and
- Four (4) from the Master of Science in Applied Mathematics.
Each program had designated reactors from relevant fields, offering valuable insights and recommendations to enrich the student researchersโ studies.ย
Key university officials attended the event, including Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Jeneifer C. Nueva, Dean of Advanced Studies Dr. Eveyth P. Deligero, CAS Dean Dr. Marnie Grace I. Sonico, and GSAS Head and CAS Associate Dean Asst. Prof. Joy R. Risonar.ย
Program heads were also present:
- Dr. Angelo Lenard E. Yu of Master of Arts in Literature
- Asst. Prof. Joy R. Risonar of Master of Arts in Applied Linguistics
- Dr. Ariel C. Pedrano of Master of Science in Applied Mathematics and
- Dr. Majella G. Bautista of Master of Science in Biology
The forum featured esteemed reactors who provided expert feedback:
- For Master of Science in Biology: Mr. Paul Dave C. Panzo and Ms. Geonyzl L. Alviola,
- For Master of Science in Applied Mathematics: Ms. Adeline Gales Batucan, Assoc. Prof. Leo Manuel Estaรฑa, Ms. Kris Dominguito-Barnido, and Dr. Analen A. Malnegro-Vidal, and
- For Master of Arts in Literature: Dr. Kenneth P. Sumatra and Ms. Maria Gliceria L. Valdez.
The event also included breakout sessions where researchers presented their studies in smaller, specialized settings, receiving constructive feedback to refine their work before the final defense.ย
The success of this Public Research Forum was attributed to the collaborative efforts of the CAS Graduate School Officers and their adviser, Asst. Prof. Josephine May Grace A. Famoso, who was part of the Technical Working Group alongside Asst. Prof. Joy R. Risonar.ย
