USeP-CBA team meets with Tokyo Chamber of Commerce and Industry officials, visits Nihon University

On July 8, 2024, a team from the University of Southeastern Philippines – College of Business Administration (USeP-CBA) led by Dean Dr. Edeliza S. Gonzales, had a brief meeting with officials of the Tokyo Chamber of Commerce and Industry – Tetsuya Matsuoka, Deputy General Manager, International Division; and Kazuto Sasaki, Project General Manager, International Division and Secretary General, The Japan-Philippines Economic Cooperation Committee.

Discussions centered on skills and labor requirements of Japan, which is a good input into the CBA curricular review.

The CBA team then proceeded to visit Nihon University (NU) College of Commerce in Tokyo, Japan. NU is one of the biggest universities in Japan with 16 campuses and over 74,000 students. Distinguished faculty members led by Vice Dean Professor Yoshihara Reiko welcomed the USeP-CBA delegation. She gave a brief presentation of NU’s profile followed by exchanges among faculty members from the two colleges. A campus tour that capped the benchmarking activity included a class observation, visit to a lecture room, auditorium, cafeteria, and their college library.

Faculty members of the college who joined the benchmarking visit are Dr. Sharon L. Binoya, Dr. Daisy T. Besing, Dr. Helen Grace C. Legorio, Dr. Elisa E. Braganza, Dr. Eugene M. Bije, Asst. Prof. Emalyn D. Bañanola, and Dr.  Rosfe Corlae D. Badoy. They bring with them new perspectives on how classes and student activities are conducted.

The College is looking forward to further collaborations including student and faculty exchange as well as joint research undertakings.
