The University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP), through its College of Education, in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd) and Resources for the Blind Inc. (RBI) hosted the National Training Course in Organization, Administration and Supervision in Special Education (OAS-SPED) for 2015, along with the Capability Building for SPED Teachers Handling Children with Special Needs and the Summer Training Program for Multigrade Teachers in the Early Years.

The training participants consist of 45 administrators, principals who enrolled in OAS-SPED; 30 multiple disability with visual impairment (MDVI) participants; 36 learning disability (LD) participants; 40 visual impairment (VI) participants; and 72 multigrade participants.

The enrollment, orientation, and opening program were held on May 4 at the College of Education Building. Dr. Bonifacio G. Gabales, Dean, CED, gave the welcome address and introduced the faculty to the students. It was followed by testimonies from the representatives of SPED teachers and Multigrade teachers.

Dr. Perfecto A. Alibin, President, USeP, in his message, stressed out the essence of training towards creativity and effectiveness where teachers can gain more knowledge, skills, and competencies that they can apply in teaching.
With USeP’s aim of becoming the training and education hub, hosting these trainings and coming up with relevant curriculum have been part of what USeP has been doing to address challenges in the field of education. USeP is thankful to its partners, Department of Education and Resources for the Blind Inc., which have been with the University for almost fifteen years for the conduct of the same training yearly.

RBI Executive Director, Randy Weisser, also pointed out that he finds the training and partnership very productive, the reason of RBI’s continuous active partnership with USeP that started in year 2000.
