CAEc through SERDAC in partnership with EEG conducts Mindanao Regional Forum on Economy and Environment 2022


The University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP)-College of Applied Economics (CAEc) through the Socio-Economic Research and Data Analytics Center (SERDAC) in Mindanao, in partnership with the Economy and Environment (EEG) Group in the Philippines, successfully conducted the โ€œ๐— ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ฑ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฎ๐—ผ ๐—ฅ๐—ฒ๐—ด๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ฎ๐—น ๐—™๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐˜‚๐—บ ๐—ผ๐—ป ๐—˜๐—ฐ๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ผ๐—บ๐˜† ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฑ ๐—˜๐—ป๐˜ƒ๐—ถ๐—ฟ๐—ผ๐—ป๐—บ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐˜ ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿฌ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿฎโ€ last November 18, 2022, at USeP Social Hall and via Zoom. Among the participants are from NGAs, private sector, HEIs, and SUCs.
Dr. Gem B. Castillo, the National Director of EEG โ€“ Philippines, presented the โ€œRecent Development and Innovations in NREE in the Philippinesโ€. Mr. Darrell D. Blatchley, the President Curator of Dโ€™Bone Collector Museum Inc., discussed the โ€œChallenges in Marine Life Preservation in Mindanaoโ€. Moreover, Mr. Lemuel Lloyd I. Manalo, the Program Coordinator and Environment Research Specialist of IDIS Inc., introduced the โ€œLand Use Change of Urban Wetlands in Davao Cityโ€. Dr. Teresita A. Narvaez, the Consortium Director of WESMAARRDEC, talked about the โ€œSustainability of Fishery Resources in Zamboanga Peninsulaโ€. Lastly, Dr. Roy G. Ponce, the University President of Davao Oriental State University, presented the โ€œMt. Hamiguitan as an ASEAN Heritage Park: The Value and Learnings for Sustainabilityโ€.
Their expertise brought a new set of knowledge and a thorough understanding of the aforementioned topics, which will encourage the participants to develop research initiatives addressing various economic and environmental issues in the region and the country, as well as to contribute to the achievement of sustainable development goals.
