The College of Applied Economics (CAEc) successfully held the Academic, Research, and International Societal Exchange (ARISE) 2026 through a lecture on socio-economic research entitled “Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) as an Approach in Socio-Economic Research” on April 27 at the Audio Visual Room of the College of Engineering.
The program formally opened with the Opening Remarks and Rationale delivered by Dr. Jennifer E. Hinlo, Dean of the College of Applied Economics, who emphasized the importance of international academic engagements in strengthening research, instruction, and global collaboration within the College. This was followed by a message from Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Thanh Hung, Ph.D., of Tra Vinh University’s College of Economics and Law, who highlighted the value of academic partnerships and cross-border knowledge exchange.
The event featured Dr. Nguyen Thi Cam Phuong, Deputy Head of the Faculty of Economics, College of Economics and Law, Tra Vinh University, who shared valuable insights on the use of SEM as a rigorous approach in socio-economic research. Her lecture provided faculty, staff, and students with a meaningful opportunity to deepen their understanding of research methods and strengthen their appreciation of evidence-based inquiry in addressing complex socio-economic concerns.
The program was further enriched by the reflections of Dr. Michael L. Ayala and Rizamae S. Palen, MBA, whose responses contextualized the lecture within the College’s academic and research pursuits.
The activity concluded with Closing Remarks delivered by Dr. Roperto S. Deluna, Jr., Center Manager of SERDAC Mindanao, who underscored the importance of sustaining international academic linkages and research engagements to support the continued growth of the institution.
Through ARISE 2026, CAEc continues to advance its commitment to internationalization, academic excellence, and global knowledge exchange—fostering stronger institutional linkages and more enriching learning spaces for its faculty and students.
