[π πΈππ] The University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) College of Education (CEd) successfully conducted its five-day Practice Teachersβ Capability Building and Pre-Deployment Seminar Workshop to equip future educators with essential knowledge and skills. The event, which ran from January 14 to 18, 2025, featured plenary sessions and workshops designed to prepare aspiring teachers for the classroom.
The opening program included remarks from CEd Dean Dr. Raquel D. Almasa, University President Dr. Bonifacio G. Gabales Jr., and CEd OJT Coordinator Dr. Lindy C. Lulab, followed by a discussion from Dr. Reynante Solitario, SDS of the Division of Davao City on βThe State of Basic Education in Davao City and DepEd Hiring Guidelines and Policies (K to 12)β. Subsequent sessions focused on β21st Century Teaching and Learning Classroom Managementβ, led by Ms. Marilyn L. Marcelo, and policy guidelines for lesson planning and classroom assessment, presented by Mr. Roberto Binag and Ms. Leah Camilotes.
The seminar continued with sessions on DepEdβs Results-Based Performance Management System (RPMS), school forms, and key legislations affecting teachers, featuring speakers such as Dr. Josephine Bargayo, Dr. Mack Arthur C. Gamayot, Ms. Fritzie Ivy J. Dalangin, Dr. Marilyn V. Deduyo, Dr. Jonas P. Piore, Mr. Johnito O. Galan, Ms. Alma I. Tac-on, and Ms. Janete B. Esteban. Day 4 highlighted Classroom Action Research with Assoc. Prof. Henry Encabo and a session on research-driven teaching by Dr. Gabales, followed by discussions on school-community extension initiatives with Asst. Prof. Wendelyn Bajador.
The seminar concluded on January 18 with final sessions on internship requirements, professional decorum, and grading, presented by Dr. Emmy Cabanlit, Assoc. Prof. Geraldine E. Francia, and Dr. Jean L. Bejano. The closing program was led by SSO Officers and Adviser Dr. Sharon Tabile, ensuring that USePβs practice teachers are well-prepared for their field placements and future teaching careers.
