USeP College of Engineering Students Recognized at 8th International Agriculture Students Symposium in Malaysia

Students from the University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) College of Engineering showcased their research and innovation at the 8th International Agriculture Students Symposium (IASS), held in Malaysia from February 21 to March 1, 2025. Hosted by Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), the biennial event gathered students from various countries, including Japan, Vietnam, Indonesia, and India, to discuss advancements in sustainable agriculture and technological solutions.

Representing USeP’s Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering, Mr. Dan Joseph B. Kenny and Mr. Nethanel A. Moraga delivered notable research presentations. Mr. Kenny was awarded Best Presenter for his study, “Evaporative and Conductive Cooling Systems to Mitigate Heat Stress in Broiler Production under Tropical Conditions,” which explored the efficiency of various cooling methods for poultry farming. Meanwhile, Mr. Moraga presented an abstract on “LED Light Extension on the Growth of Hydroponic Lettuce (Lactuca sativa) in Deep Water Culture,” examining the effects of photoperiod and light spectrum on plant development.

Their participation underscored the USeP College of Engineering’s commitment to fostering research and innovation in agricultural technology. By gaining international recognition, the students not only highlighted their academic excellence but also reinforced the university’s role in advancing sustainable engineering solutions.
