The University of Southeastern Philippines College of Business Administration successfully conducted the Basic First Aid and Kitchen Safety Training on February 4, 2026, at the CoE Audio-Visual Room, as part of its continuing commitment to student safety, preparedness, and professional development.
The activity aimed to equip first-year Hospitality students with essential knowledge and practical skills in basic first aid, emergency response, and kitchen safety, especially as they begin hands-on laboratory work in a high-risk learning environment.
The program featured a comprehensive series of sessions, including Basic First Aid Principles and Emergency Response, Hands-on First Aid Demonstrations covering CPR, cuts, burns, and choking, as well as Kitchen Safety Standards and Simulations focused on proper equipment handling, fire safety, and hygiene practices. These sessions were led by Mr. Reymundo E. Ocenar, together with the UDRRM Team, whose expertise ensured an engaging and informative learning experience.
The activity formally opened with preliminary rites and messages from Dr. Xennie Y. Tupas, BSHM Faculty, and Dr. Suzette C. Quico, BSHM Program Head, highlighting the importance of safety awareness and discipline in hospitality education. An open forum and synthesis of learning allowed students to reflect on their insights and clarify practical concerns, followed by the closing program facilitated by Ms. Rosil Mae U. Amistad, BSHM Laboratory Custodian. The event was hosted by Ms. Chiara R. Medida.
Through this initiative, the College reinforces a culture of safety, responsibility, and preparedness, ensuring that students are not only technically competent but also confident and capable of responding to real-life emergency situations in academic and professional settings.
