March 6, 2025 – The College of Agriculture and Related Sciences (CARS), in coordination with the Career and Alumni Center (CAC), successfully conducted a one-day Labor Education for Graduating Students (LEGS) and Pre-Deployment Seminar for On-the-Job Training (OJT) Students of the Agriculture and Forestry Programs at the Audio-Visual Room, Agriculture Building, USeP Mabini, Pindasan, Mabini, Davao de Oro.
The activity aimed at equipping students with essential knowledge on labor rights, workplace ethics, and professional preparedness as they transition from academic life to their chosen careers.
The seminar featured Ms. Shalove E. Cruz, Resource Speaker from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Davao de Oro, who provided insights into employment policies and workers’ rights. Ms. Chona Liza M. Limbaga, the Campus Nurse, discussed the Occupational Safety and Health to ensure that students are not only academically prepared but also equipped to protect themselves and contribute to safer workplaces. The Campus Guidance Counselor, Ms. Rochen D. Yntig, delivered a talk on Personality Development to equip the students with the mindset, skills, and character they need to excel not just as employees, but as well-rounded individuals in their future careers. Visitors from the Agriculture Training Institute – Regional Training Center XI (ATI-RTC XI) also shared discussions on their services particularly the E-Learning Program of the agency.
During the activity, supportive officials of CARS were present including the College Dean, Dr. Cecirly G. Puig, who gave her inspiring opening remarks, and Dr. Marvin A. Batiancela, Department Chair of Forestry, who discussed the rationale of the activity. Dr. Dernie T. Olguera, Chair of the Department of Agricultural Sciences, facilitated the Open Forum while Mr. Lauro M. Aguanta and Mr. Roel Z. Rementizo, both OJT Subject Teachers, served as emcees of the seminar.
The seminar was among the lined activities of CARS and CAC as they remained committed to supporting students through initiatives that bridge academic learning with real-world experiences, ensuring graduates are well-prepared for the workforce.
