CARS programs undergo AACCUP Accreditation

To achieve the highest standard of education, two programs of the College of Agriculture and Related Sciences underwent Level III and Level IV accreditation by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP) from March 16 to 18, 2022, via Zoom.  Level IV accredited status is the highest level of quality that a program may gain in accreditation programs.

The program evaluated were Bachelor of Science in Agricultural and Biosystem Engineering (Level IV) and Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (Level IV for majors in Agronomy, Horticulture, and Animal Science; Level III for majors in Plant Pathology and Enterprise Management).

The respected accreditors were composed of committed individuals from different State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) with Dr. Adolfo C. Manuel, Jr. from Cavite State University as the overall coordinator together with Dr. Rommel Octavius R. Nuestro from  Laguna State Polytechnic University, and Dr. Armando D. Vale from the University of Rizal System for BSABE program,  Dr. Luis O. Amano from Bicol University and Dr. Gilbert Stanly D. Baylosis from Iloilo Science and Technology University for BSA majors in Agronomy, Horticulture, and Animal Science, and Dr. Romil J. Tan from Central Mindanao University for BSA majors in Plant Pathology and Enterprise Management.

The accreditors evaluated the areas in Planning, Performance of Graduates, International Linkages, Research, and Community Service for Level IV while Curriculum and Instruction, Faculty Development, Research, and Extension for Level III.

During the presentation and defense of narrative reports, the accreditors gave praiseworthy impressions about the programs and helpful remarks and recommendations for further improvement.

Dr. Manuel delivered the overall impression of the accreditors for the CARS programs during the closing program. He shared what Angela Duckworth said, “a combination of passion and perseverance for a singularly important goal (to pass level 4)—is the hallmark of high achievers in every domain,” “Your grit is what impressed us the most”, he added.  He also sincerely expressed his gratitude to the task force heroes for the warm virtual hospitality, courtesy, and immediate actions whenever the accreditors required additional documents that made their work easier and pleasurable.

The University President, Dr. Lourdes C. Generalao, assures the AACCUP of the commitment of the university to take action and consider the observations and recommendations a significant input in planning and crafting programs, projects, and activities as the university moves forward.  She also expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the members of the USeP community who worked tirelessly to ensure the university’s continued improvement and development to attain the aspired level.
